A devoted public servant with a record of standing up for Nassau County families.
Tom McKevitt is a lifelong resident of Nassau County and a devoted public servant. He earned his bachelor's degree from Hofstra University and his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law.
Tom began his public service career as an intern with the New York State Supreme Court, the New York State Senate, and the United States Senate. He later served for nearly nine years as a Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead.
In 2006, Tom was elected to the New York State Assembly and was reelected six times. During his Assembly service, he sponsored more than 150 bills that were signed into law, supported the property tax cap, and helped deliver record school aid. He also served as Minority Leader Pro Tempore.
Tom was elected to the Nassau County Legislature in 2017 and reelected in 2019 and 2021, continuing his work to protect taxpayers, support law enforcement, and strengthen local infrastructure.
He is active with the East Meadow Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce, and has coached the Holy Trinity High School Mock Trial team.
Tom is a parishioner of St. Raphael's Church and lives in East Meadow with his wife, Samantha, and their two children.
